Show you're HR Smart: Get Certified and Stay Certified
The HR Certification Institute offers four certifications for HR professionals: PHR® (Professional in Human Resources), SPHR® (Senior Professional in Human Resources), GPHR® (Global Professional in Human Resources)and PHR-CA® and SPHR-CA® (PHR and SPHR with state certification in California)
Certification is a voluntary action by a professional group to establish a system to grant recognition to professionals who have met a stated level of training and work experience. Certified individuals are entitled to make the public aware of their credentialed status, usually through the use of initials (i.e., PHR or SPHR) after their names.

HR Certification Institute’s New Eligibility Requirements To Take Effect 2011
In keeping with best practices for certification programs, the HR Certification Institute conducted an extensive multi-pronged study of the eligibility requirements of their three core products: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). Based on feedback from both certified and non-certified HR professionals, business leaders, students and academicians, the requirements will now include a combination of education and experience. These changes went into effect in 2011.

Each of SHRMJAX’s monthly programs is submitted for certification credits and there are other local organizations, such as the North Florida Compensation & Benefits Association (http://www.jaxcomp.org). There are multiple web sites at which to discover fee and no fee recertification credits. One such web site is the LINKEDIN Group – “HR RESOURCE PORTAL – HRCI CERTIFICATION CENTERAL” where we post local (and sometimes, not so local) events, webinars, and conferences, submitted for inclusion. These events may be free or not.
