According to the Society for Human Resource Management, Workforce Readiness can be defined as having new workplace entrants prepared to enter the workforce with the requisite knowledge, skills, abilities and attributes in order to engage in endeavors that will be required in their respective occupations. SHRM Jacksonville’s Workforce Readiness Committee has created strong partnerships and alliances between educational institutions, governmental entities and employers assisting in ensuring that these new workforce entrants are sufficiently prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities they will face in the workplace.
If you would like to request information or partner with our Workforce Readiness Committee, please contact Natasha Slaughter, SPHR by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
MILITARY VETERANS PARTNERSHIP
The Jacksonville Military Veterans Coalition (JMVC) is committed to honoring military veterans and currently serving members of the National Guard and Reserve by facilitating career, business, and education opportunities in Jacksonville. Central to the JMVC vision is the recognition that many of the skills veterans developed in the military – leadership, fast and accurate decision–making, operational focus, and the drive to accomplish a mission – have a direct application to Jacksonville businesses. The JMVC works with military organizations, veterans groups, industry associations, governmental entities, and Jacksonville businesses to build awareness and understanding of how these skills and cultural attributes make military veterans outstanding employees.
